FoodTure: Education for Sustainable Development and Systems Innovation for Green Skills

null

FoodTure is an international project led by organisations based in Germany and Slovenia. It is focused on promoting the development of a transnational community of knowledge and practice on youth engagement through an integrated Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and Systems Innovation (SI) approach to climate change and food-related education.

Through the application of didactic methods, the aim is to raise young people's awareness of the effects of the food industry and food consumption on natural resources and the environment in order to encourage them to take an active role in these issues.

For this purpose the project will conduct workshops for youth that will explore the intersections between various topics related to food systems and climate change (e.g. food waste and loss, food habits, nutrition, global supply chain, etc.) incorporating an ESD and SI pedagogical approach. Thus, participants will be sensitised and provided with tools that will foster their soft and green skills in the context of the transition towards sustainable, resilient and inclusive food systems.

Objectives:
Strengthen the networking and exchange of knowledge and skills between the participating organisations from Germany and Slovenia in youth work. As well as promoting the capacity of young to understand, explore and act at the intersection of food systems and climate change by fostering the development of soft and green skills through workshops conducted in collaboration with local organisations.

Target audience:
The main target group are young people, aged approximately 14-18 years, who will participate in the 8 workshops organized in Germany and Slovenia. Project partners will also benefit by strengthening their collaborative work and the implementation of strategies for the non-formal education of young people, as well as local organisations by accessing the innovative content, methods, and tools developed in the previous projects, and being able to pinpoint concrete citizen engagement opportunities for the youth.
