This 3-week online course focuses on using participatory methods as essential transdisciplinary and cross-sectoral tools for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). During the online sessions, participants will reflect on the local socio-environmental challenges in their home countries, the potential consequences beyond the local, and how global issues can be addressed through local actions. In addition, climate change and biodiversity loss are used as entry points to provide participants with new technical knowledge while building soft skills related to cross-cultural communication, mediation, civic engagement and partnerships.
Target audience
The workshop targets primarily students who want to develop their skills in participatory approaches and sustainable development. Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate subject and/or professional experience. English proficiency is required.
Who can apply?
- DAAD students and graduates (main target group — EPOS students).
- Students of development programmes in Germany.
- Relevant applicants from the Global South.
By the end of this seminar, participants are expected to:
- Gain knowledge about participatory methods and tools.
- Reflect and gain a deeper understanding of global environmental challenges.
- Be empowered by understanding their impact and how to collaborate with others to take action using their expertise.
- Strengthen skills to enable active participation in local and national decisions and contribute to sustainable development.
